Really slow gameplay.

Don't know how to get out of spawn? HLSS plays sounds really slowly? Or you need a dispenser? Come here!

So, trying to play the game, noticing that I'm unusually chugging. I've got two options, a Toshiba Satellite A205 dual core 1.60Ghz with 2GB RAM and onboard video, or a desktop that's a single core 3.39 GHz machine with 2GB RAM and sadly, also onboard video, as all my good videocards are all AGP and the slot in the machine is for PCIE only. Currently income is nill as I'm job hunting, so can't get a spiffy new videocard.

So, am I plum out of luck for the moment?

Gilded, is your vid card 256 mb? If not, that may be your problem.

I think DOPR or I has one sitting around here someone, if you don't. Least we can do to repay you for the wii.

Have you tried rolling back some of the eye-candy in the Video tab?
I ended up running 640x480, bilinear, low-detail, etc, etc.. on my in-laws computer during the xmas holiday...
It was ugly as hell, but the framerate was playable.

The best you can definitely do is cut down on eye candy. How much we can't tell, because you haven't told us what GPU (ATI/AMD, NVidia, or Intel) you have.

Intel video is a write-off, it will always be horrid.

I have played TF2 on an NVidia Geforce 5-MX series bearing Dell Inspiron 6150 (P4 3Ghz monster of a laptop). It is workable at a low resolution!

Did you try to force Direct-X 8 in the game?

Yeah, currently running at 640x480, with all the bells and whistles turned off or as low as it can be. Can't force it down to Direct X 8, since Valve can't seem to recognize the onboard video (probably a big part of this game running so slowly).

Unfortunately it is an Intel GMA X3100 Dynamic Video Memory Technology 4.0, with 358MB of allocated RAM. That could be the crux of the problem.

AAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIEEEEE INTEL!!!

Yeah, Intel's got the worst GPU out there. It's been very lax in the GPU game, so I'm not surprised you had to knock it down just to get it at a playable state. Shared memory also kills performance too.
