How to make high quality sprays for Source games.

Don't know how to get out of spawn? HLSS plays sounds really slowly? Or you need a dispenser? Come here!

Choose 24-bit and uncheck Compress (RLE).

It would appear that to get the transparency to work correctly you need to select 32-bit (as in the image) rather than 24-bit. This seems to be why the sprays I've made come with ugly white borders.

It should be noted now that TF2 (and L4D1|2) has been updated to allow the usage of higher-resolution 512x512 sprays instead of 256x256. Quite a difference doubling the pixels makes!

Does this also increase the memory footprint for sprays, so if we stick with the smaller size, we can add more frames of animation? *evil grin of hope*

Technically, it's a quadrupling in pixels! 65536 pixels vs 262144 pixels. :)

Tehrasha, I think that might be the case. At least you should be able to do four frames of animations with a 256x256 spray now, probably more. I hadn't really investigated this, since I don't have animated sprays of my own.
