Question about Damage

Don't know how to get out of spawn? HLSS plays sounds really slowly? Or you need a dispenser? Come here!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out something regarding damage. Because I think something screwy's going on but I don't want to accuse anyone if it isn't true.

If you blast a Scout at point blank range with a shotgun, three times, and that Scout's not moving at all- he should die, right?

LoL, Ask CastleBat, we shoot him with constant streams of bullets all the time and he almost never dies from it.
Sc00ts were designed to break the game, simple as that...

All I know for certain is that a Scout ran onto a CP, and I followed him up, and I emptied my shotgun at him. At the absolute least two of those caught him standing stock still on the point; and at least one caught him while chasing him up the steps. I saw the hits register, but he didn't move, and it didn't stop the cap.

Blood effects are done client side so if your computer thinks you got a hit but the server comes back and says no you didn't, the blood effects will still show up even though you did no damage which can be very confusing. Also as far as I can remember tracer rounds are random (close, but still not completely accurate). Not sure about him standing still, lag maybe? :P

Lag could be it- I typically run between 70 and 180 on the TFP servers.

It may just be me, too. Yesterday was the second time I logged in and for several games in a row, it was a flat out steamroller. I don't mean we lost- I mean the game would start, and before I could get a sentry up, the first point was being contested- and by the time it was up, we were overrun on the second point. Teams stayed the same across multiple maps and the results were consistent- at one point I switched between Heavy and Soldier, blazing away at everyone I could- including several Scouts at point blank in the crosshairs- and yet still ended up being Dominated by over half the opposing team.

OH God, yes, client-side blood.

I'd say lag this time, but keep an eye on the player to be sure. With shotty, it's probably just lag. If, however, explosions and FIRE fail to damage him in the future, THENNNNNNN take a demo.
