Or three rows of metal.
Don't ask me why I'd bothered. I have no idea. >_>
All I can say that even with constant idling, collecting enough metal for a hat takes a really long time. Let hope Valve actually pulls through their proposed changes to the drop system (increased drop rate to make crafting viable for more people, while making idling less attractive).
(For anyone curious, it adds up to 14.45 refined metal. Which is only enough for "four hats". I got two hats during that period, one which I got during a proper game).
I doubt there's any hidden combination involving 4-12 scrap/reclaimed/refined metal, but I will try them all out for shit and giggles.

3000 hours total?? I think a better question is: How do you find time to sleep?

Jokingly aside, about 1200+ of those hours is real gameplay IIRC. Just sum the playtime of the classes together....
Amusingly, there is still a lot of people who don't know that being in spectator mode is enough for the item drops to work. :/

Wish I could get drops during all the time I've been spending building tf2 maps....
When I do play, I probably average 4hrs per session and since the 'fix' to the drop system back in December, I seem to be limited to 1 drop per session.

Everything I've learned in TF2, I've learned from watching Doom kick my ass!
