Hey there everyone. Still kind of a n00b here, but noticed that there hasn't been that much of discussion of music from video games. Alot of us are usually playing TF2, but at times it's good to play a few other games here and there. Sometimes, we'll play something new on the PS3, 360, Wii and such, or other times it's good to go back to some of the classics.
One of the things that'll ALWAYS stick with us, be it for good or bad, are some songs from classic games.
A good example I can give is a kind of special remix of the classic tunes from Outrun: Magical Sound Shower and Passing Breeze, performed by Richard Jacques, part of the Sega sound team from time to time.

In any case, wanted to see if any others on here wanted to share some of their personal faves of classic or modern gaming music.

I like lots of game music. Some of my favorites are the music from the Phoenix Wright games. I also like pretty much all the battle themes from Pokemon gold/silver/crystal. Mother 3 also has some great music too. Also the FF IV boss battle theme is win.
Who do you think you are? Bleeding Action Man?!

I probably listen to more game music than real music. I don't mean that game music isn't "real" music, but some game soundtracks are pretty good to listen to. My favorite tracks from different games are:
Metal Slug-Final Attack (MS 5 version being my favorite)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxcnFZ2Z6cQ
Ace Combat 5-The Unsung War
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGX6vGL0GBI
King of Fighters 96-Esaka
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifG376LtUiM
Freedom Fighters-March of the Empire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwMqksh3xNY
Jazz Jackrabbit-Tubelectric
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2idyeFWdmA
Knights of the Temple-Credits Theme
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4coqC71MJSI
And a new favorite of mine is The House of the Dead:Overkill soundtrack

I could go on and on about game music, but these are just some of my favorites...

Well, first and foremost, there's Frank Klepacki, best known for his work on the Command & Conquer series but also Universe at War, Space Above & Beyond, Star Wars: Empire at War, Dune, and more. Right now I'm listening to Fight, Win, Prevail (Remix) from C&C: Renegade, which strikes me as well suited for the last... (checking...) 3:36 on a CP map when you're down to that final point and it's a pure, unadulterated slugfest.
Then there's the techno stuff from Jet Set Radio Future, which isn't nearly so compatible with TF2, but shares some stylistic undertones with the cel shading.
And if you want something that's a bit more 'determined hero' with some 'Rocky training montage' tossed in now and then, there's Killer Instinct, which has a pretty decent mix of tunes all things considered. More something for general listening than gaming music for gaming, mind you, but there it is. Most of it's slow enough that it wouldn't work for getting your pulse going, but 'The Way You Move' is making me rather happy I sprung for true 5.1 Surround Sound headphones...
