To anyone who hasn't heard of it yet, there's a nifty little mod manager for Torchlight called TorchLeech. The TorchLeech people have come out with a mod compilation and the steam forums has a list of recommended mods. Some good ones from those lists that haven't been mentioned yet:
BEEEEEEEES! - Spell that makes you shoot angry bees at your enemies
Homunculus Fix - Fixes a typo with the Homunculus set piece
More maps past level 20 - Those map quests listed for levels 20-??? will now open up to tilesets other than just the palace
Shocking - Fixes a couple bugs with skills not scaling damage properly
TOTAL respec mod - now also includes potions to get stat points back as well

I told myself I was gonna play through the game without mods in my first run.
...then I was bugged by my skill set, and decided to install the Respec Mod. At least it's a official mod. >_>;

The respec mod is great for fixing a botched build but I'm finding it difficult to strike a good balance between killing power and survivability. Even with a level 8 Ember Shield my very hard hardcore alchemist died yesterday after only a few seconds of getting trapped on a bridge. Maybe I'm not putting enough stat points into defense? How much do you guys normally use? Up next I think I'm going to try a super defense "I'll kill you eventually" destroyer.

I dunno, I have an allrounder Destroyer and I've only died once because I didn't pay attention while leaving the game unpaused.
That asides, if things get dangerous, just be ready to deploy the gazillion health potions you end up with.

I have so many mods for Torchlight it's not even funny.
The ferret pet is easily the best one out there, in my humble opinion. I'd like to make a skin for it that looks like my fursona. :V
My main character is a Vanquisher, I've beaten the game and I've advanced to that endless dungeon area, I'm at least level 50 now.
