Jack Emmert eats Puppies & Kitties and then regurgitates them into Bill Roper's vortex of a gullet to summon a Darkness so bleak that no magic missile in existence could penetrate it even with Ace & Gary's Super Astroglide.

Unfortunately their 'Open' Beta is only available to people who've already preordered, or people who subscribe to Fileplanet. So either way, in order to play you have to either pay them, or pay Fileplanet, and I don't really think it's worth paying to play a game not even released yet.

At this point I've got nothing against the game- but I also don't have anything in favor of it. I've given the Champions universe a try many times and always felt unhappy with the end results. And there's the five plus years I've been on City of Heroes. There's been a lot of interesting stuff in Champions, but every time I look at it I stop and realize, "Wait- that's the Nerva Archipelago," or, "I know that power," or, "I can do that emote."

There's more to it, of course, and there's nothing inherently wrong with Champions- but I'm just not seeing a reason to buy the cow when I've already got one.

I use to play CoH, and the buddy of mine who got me playing CoH is probably 10 different ways of signed up on the beta, but now I'm off at EvE, and I see no reason why I should switch to CoH 3.0... err, Champions Online.

Also, everytime I hear about Champions, I'm reminded of this: http://www.massively.com/2009/08/07/mas ... us-reform/

Or were in the closed beta. I hear there are a couple of other ways to get keys but I don't know the details.

Actually from the 21st or so, they did eventually open up to everyone, so I did get a chance to play it. Although, at Level 40, there just wasn't much reason to get more than a few skills, at least with the type of hero I made. Was fun, but.. Don't think it's really for me.

Pretty much, they did extend it some to make up for a few Snafu's. I've been doing it since closed beta, it has soem strong points, But I feel the game still isn't ready, lacks polish in some areas, especially power balance. I'M LOOKING AT YOU FORCE and GADGETEERING. I do like it a bit better than coh graphically though, and there's enough flavor roaming around that will at least give me reason enough to give them one month of my time
