played a trial a few years ago. it was probably the most boring and mundane mmorpg i've ever stepped foot in.

I have an account, though I am preparing to sell it to make some quick cash :P.

Caldari EW Specialist type char though. Love EvE. Amazing galaxy/playerbase.

Played a long time ago, but wasn't much for it. After going through the training, one of my first missions was to transport goods. It seemed safe enough- just point A to point B, and my brand new ship with its guns and ammo was solid against pirates. So I set off through the gates. Then at one gate, a little thing popped up telling me to stop and allow my ship to be boarded. The part I noticed first was the '15 seconds to comply' which meant I just scanned the message rather than reading through it. Ultimately I hit no.

And my ship blew up. Because the destination system for my cargo was in another faction's space, one where said cargo was contraband. But it wasn't in my starting system, so I never got the warning about it. Lost everything.

So I started over, and built myself back up, and eventually upgraded to a better ship than the one I had before. Which was about the point my complaint was acknowledged and they gave me my old ship back. Joined a mining corp and managed to pick up an Osprey. Slowly got that fitted out. I realized along the way I was using my business course textbooks for reference material for the corporation, which was starting to expand into manufacturing. Our few forays into low sec space pretty much universally resulted in my ship being blown up and replaced. I picked up a Badger to haul when I was tired of mining. Got tired of that. Set up with a new ship loaded with guns, and went 'rat hunting. Got tired of that. Tried running missions. Got tired of that. Tried running gates. Got tired of someone else showing up and grabbing the key, then waiting around for fifteen minutes in the hope it'd respawn.

Finally decided I could put the cash every month to better use with other games.

I love playing been playing on off for several years trying to find a race and build i liked. I finally settled on Caldari missile whoring. The main problem I believe new players have is the complexity and that it can take around 6 months before you are doing anything fun. I have been playing this char. for almost a year and went full combat and I'm just now starting to go for my first tech2 ship and to date i have lost 300mil ISK and i have only been in small roaming gangs no awesome fleet stuff yet.

A word of advice to any that want to get back into it or start a new. Get your basic learning skills up first (learning and the attribute ones) to at least lvl4. your next choice goes from what race you are I pick getting my tanking skills up for shields or armor (again this choice is race dependent) for instance Cal. mainly use shields and amarr are profient at armor tanking. Just look at what ships give bonus to like armor/sheild resists or to boosters the same applies to weapons.

The rumors are true this is a game of spread sheets but users have created user friendly version like EVE fitting tool.

If you find yourself flying near Jita in the heart of Caldari space keep an eye out for a Drake named the Party Wagon.

Ahhhhhhhh the ubiquitous drake. Such a wonderful ship. I fly one as well off and on. I love the "LETS JUST KEEP CRAMMING MISSILES ON UNTIL THEY WONT FIT ANYMORE" attidue of it. Damn thing is an excellent shield tank as well.

Bah, my myrmidon will chew through your drake, as my drones feast upon your tender, tender pod.
