Headcrash. Server is completely down until I find a new drive and try to recover what was lost.

Update: Full recovery. I'm insane, but it worked. Ask me if you want to hear a fun story about doing things that are supposed to take place in clean rooms.

I'm impressed. Transfer the platters or just replace the head?

Recalling the horror stories told to us in my Hardware I class about dust specks like an avalanche across the surface, crushing hopes, dreams, and disk sectors alike, I'd just like to say you're a braver person than I. And I appreciate the effort, given the work I've done on the map.

If you do it makeshift cleanroom, I know that supposedly it can last for even a quite few weeks.

I heard about people who keep using a harddrive after doing that, but of course.... even small speck of dust can cause unpredictable data corruption.

A note. Whenever the map becomes super full. I have generated a blank 512x512x256 map :D

This should offer alot more space. Sadly I cannot roll in the current stuff into it.

Out of curiosity, how large is the current map?

We now have an intercoastal waterway. And a red smiley face in the sky. The latter courtesy of Nynnja.
