Because playing with people better than you is a fate worse than death apparently This is exactly the reason why I never play with pubfags in L4D.

Clan, pubfag... same thing Nice work anyhow XD Most clans are very well organized. I've played in two scrims with a group of friends and both times the team I was with just ragequit because we were getting rocked so hard.

The ragequitting decreased somewhat after Valve released patches to make L4D versus more fair with more consistency to tank and witch spawn. Though people complain now that it can get a little too... predictable for the second team.
