I've noticed more than a few TFP members in the Authoring Tools/SDK package. How many folks are actually planning on creating some things, or are we all just in general screwing around to check it out?

I'm somewhat (seriously) irked that they weren't just implemented as part of the Source SDK, given that the toolset is essentially the same with a different config file. :/

It's a really mutated version of Source. If you notice, it stores itself like a 3rd party game in your steam cache, not an actual Source engined game.

I know, but the tools themselves are more or less identical. Any changes could've been just as easily handled with the way the SourceSDK already handles differences between the EP1 and OB versions of Source.
