Request on a rule/guideline: be of a legal consenting age

Evening, this is a recommendation for the admins, you can choose to take this or leave this, delete it, close it, etc.

While it hasn't been a major issue yet, I would recommend putting either a rule or guideline that states:

"You must be of legal age to view pornographic material and willing to accept such material while in this server. by clicking continue you are agreeing with the rules of this server" if you want to tack an age in there and say "you must be 16/18 years of age or older" instead, that is your call again. While I don't expect this to be actively enforced (going out there and asking "are you over 16/18?), if someone states they are underage adn admins feel there is enough collaborative evidence to support that, out they go.

This has draw backs I realize. This means anyone that doesn't speak up and admit it gets away with it. I'm more concerned with the look the server has because its allowing mature content and children. These are two that normally don't work well together in the public eye and parents alike. This adds something more for the administrators to enforce. From what I've seen however, there was only one case where there was someone that said they were underage and I believed them. Finally the number might seem arbitrary or unjust to some. That is for the owners and administrators to decide, I only state my opinion, and I encourage others to do the same.

Thank you for your time.

The game itself has an M rating, and our community obviously goes far beyond that. However I feel it is not the responsibility of the Admins to ensure that everyone playing is of proper age-that is the responsibility of the parents who buy their children a game that is full of (albeit cartoony) violence, gore and bad language.

Therefore my initial reaction is a "no". It's not an Admin's job to parent those who come onto the server.

I agree furthermore with Witchie. The game has a M-rating and states that content may change online. It's never the community's or game-developer's fault if a child is exposed to content his/her parent's disapprove of. It's the parents' fault.

I agree we're not the parent, hence why I stated this would only be enforced if someone said they were under the legal limit. If you feel that is crossing the line into parent hood so be it, in which case I still recommend a guideline. Its the same as many pronographic sites have, saying if you're under age you probably shouldn't be here. its less then what I'm proposing, but no one (parents included) can't say you didn't give some warning.

The way the server works, we don't need to follow COPPA.

And really, the porn spray warning in the MOTD should be enough.

Hero, given the differences around the world, there is no correct answer past warning. If the parent doesn't care, and it turns out the kid's mentally disturbed, the problem is legally the parents (for letting the kid play the games) and not TFP/FOR.

Remember, a kid north of Toronto had his XBox 360 taken away by his parents for playing on it every night and day. The parents were being responsible, but the kid appears to be mentally disturbed -- he has run away and nobody can find him.

The game is 16+ in Sweden, while the age of consent is 15+. We call that "byxmyndig" which would be translated literally as "Pants age of majority". ;)

Amusingly, it doesn't show the rating on Steam... I had to look it up on a local internet store.

While I agree that it is not our responsibility to parent potential underage players that come to our server, I do think it is important to warn the player they're on an adult server. Preferably both in voice and text.
