Drop System Broken!

I just realized something: if Valve do intend to expand the system even further in the near future, I think they should consider requesting assistance/materials/permission/etc. from the community. They're already integrating top-notch custom maps as official ones, so why not weapons and hats?

So, I put in another 3-4 hours of gameplay last night while signed into Steam Friends. Still no drops. :<

Yesterday, the Steam Cloud had a slight cough, and passed out everything to some people. I managed to wrangle up every headgear, so many to the point that I accidentally deleted the Cloak and Dagger it gave me. ;^;

Left the game running all night again, no go, no drops, still only 2 D:

Whatever is going on, it's not counting my hours in my steam profile, which is odd, because I am signed in and everything, weee.

Hmm, I would restart Steam, make sure you're logged into friends and then check after about 10 minutes or so if your playtime in TF2 have increased.

Sounds like some connection under the hood wasn't working, or you set yourself to offline in Steam friends.

According to Kotaku, Valve has made a few changes to the drop system so hopefully people will start having a little more success in finding the items that they need.
