They need that horsepower, anything that causes increased load on the Steam servers related to TF2, such as updates/events, causes a unreliable item system. :| If working at all.

Considering the number of items there are already (and any future items), along with the sheer number of players; yes it is needed. Even since a couple of times the loadouts have failed.
