I am wondering if the grenades will only be for looks or whether they will be a functional weapon.

Sounds like they are just replacing the grenades on the soldiers chest. I hope they sing when he uses his taunt, that would make them amazing. :X

Unfortunatly the hat and grenades are tied together. Shame, I was hoping to see a Misc 2 item. :/ I was hoping to mix it together with another soldier hat.

But they fixed it in the last patch, so you might want to give it another try.

It also worsens the surprise element of the taunt, but then... it probably adds to the humility of the opponent when you pull off an kill.
