Eh, it was known before the soldier VS update thing that soldier tend to have the upper hand vs Demomen.

Gonna be intresting to see what the results are, but even if my choice is Demoman I wouldn't be surprised for a Soldier win. But seeing how the theme is friendship, it might not matter who get's the unlockable... :p

Soldier mostly have the upper hand against demomen due to their "low accuracy" with the Grenade Launcher, except stickies.

I can see one thing though, In competitive leagues and matches, it's obvious that it might be a tad balanced, there are Two soldiers and one Demoman per team on clans, and I rarely see a Demoman kill both Soldiers unless it's with a sticky trap.

My Prediction is that the Soldier will win, at least clan/league wise.

Also true, I mainly forgot about the small Jarate comic, though I consider this the first as it was of "bigger length"

I think I might have an idea what the new item the soldiers and demos are fighting for. If you notice the update window which pops up when you log onto steam has two announcements instead of the usual one per. The first was the formal announcement of war and if you scroll down the second refers to Tripwire. It would not surprise me in the least is what we are fighting for is a tripwire mine. This would be an awesome addition to TF2 if true.

Demos already have stickies, so a tripwire mine would be... weird...

My own idea is that the 7th item is just simple, a melee weapon with no pros nor cons to the original melee weapon, but instead, the Soldier can hold a bottle OR the demoman can hold a Shovel, as a proof of said side winning the war.
