TFP Map-Test Session = Over! And the Winners Are...

UPDATE: Thanks to all the folks who showed up to playtest the new maps for the server. We've got some winners and some losers in the pickings, and you'll be seeing a few new locales in the rotation in the coming days. Here's what made the cut:

CTF Geothermal b2 [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/48692 ]
CTF Dirtwork [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/41789 ]
PL Hoodoo a4 [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/62351 ]

Additionally, we have a couple of special request maps which, like cp_Blackmesa, will be available should people request something alternative (or just to pad out a CTF vote):

CTF Escherhaus [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/57581 ]
CTF 100 Yards [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/40014 ]

At the moment our download services are pretty unreliable. This means you may have problems downloading custom maps on the fly. Until we figure out what the problem is, we strongly recommend that you download and install these yourselves, hence why the URL was included. It'll save you time, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.

===================================================================

Hi, folks!

It's that time, again. Our server's got to expand its library and give you some more locales with which to slaughter your friends in. To that end, we are hosting a map test session:

Sunday night at 8pm EST time (5pm Pacific)
Test server TFP #2 [ IP 65.164.172.85:27018 ]
Server password: hermsonly

Our focus will be Capture the Flag maps, with a new Payload map we are throwing in to test its life with:

Map Night 1 (pack size: 155MB )
CTF Barn [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/51077 ]
CTF Dirtwork [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/41789 ]
CTF Geothermal b2 [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/48692 ]
CTF Backwards b1 [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/66532 ]
CTF Escherhaus [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/57581 ]
CTF 100 Yards [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/40014 ]
CTF Jinxed [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/39259 ]
CTF Torch [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/50291 ]
PL Hoodoo a3 [ http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/62351 ]

To avoid depending on downloading on the fly, as it is very slow right now, Kindly download the map pack located here: [ http://www.bloobunni.com/tf2/TFP_Mapnight_1.rar ] and Install its contents in your \Steam\SteamApps\-username-\team fortress 2\tf\maps folder (the contents of the media folder goes in..well..the media folder, of course).

We recommend doing a trial run alone or with a friend through the maps, just to see what their layout is and minimize that 'New map shock' a bit.

Please come on out to help us test these maps and determine if they're worth placing on the server, and remember that the purpose for this event is to evaluate new map candidates; anyone caught griping about the excess of custom maps and mapswitching will be summarily made fun of. ;)

See you then!

It looks like alot of BZip2'ed files plus another RAR with it's own install, so installation will be more involved.

I just uncompressed everything and moved it all with IZarc. Didn't need WinRAR and it's "PAY ME PAY ME PAY ME!" annoyance.

The mass map link was corrupt for me, not sure if it'd be the same for others, but I have to download seperately.

Just making note just in case it happens to others.

Hope to make it tonight!
