July '09 Maptest

For TFP server admins to post news or information related to the game servers.

The changes on the first two stages are pretty warranted (Giving RED another spawn exit on 2-2, opening up the area around 1-2, adding cover / nooks in certain areas, etc) and the change to 3-1 is massive, you can't even recognize it as dustbowl (not that that is a bad thing) until after the first turn. Aside from the first point being slightly less spy friendly this version (with that fence shortcut not there anymore) there's still side paths (albeit parallel to the main path) but dbheights' stage 3 is still worlds ahead of dustbowl's in terms of being spy friendly. And it's still new so give people a chance to get use to it / formulate some new strategies ;)

And not counting the current maptesting we've never had Halfacre :P

I understand it being new, and giving it a bit of time is fine. A less spy-friendly map, yes...

Our engineers weren't too happy however, either.

Every single time I have played it, BLU has won. It's so linear that virtually all they have to do is get a few heavier classes clustered around the cart, and they're guaranteed a win. It wasn't one team winning, either. I've played the new version three times now, on two different servers.

BLU has won EVERY TIME.
Once the teams change, BLU wins again. I have yet to see RED win -once-, here.

So, how did the map voting system turn out? Obvious winners, losers?
There were several in there that I look forward to seeing in regular rotation. *fingercross*

I'm kinda wondering that as well. I know I saw Cashworks on the main servers and the Strider payload map on server #3, but I would like to know which maps passed and which failed or maybe got put on server #3.

Like the maptest itself, we're going to be rolling out the maps in little packs so that people can get a chance to download them all (especially with some of them being updated since the maptest). The first pack which has already been pushed out includes cp_glacier_rc, pl_cashworks_rc2, cp_resonance_rc3, and arena_freight. The full list can be seen below with blue names signifying maps being added to TFP3 (those should all be added at once):

cp_pacman_normal_wtf
cp_glacier_rc
pl_cashworks_rc2
pl_borax_rc
cp_studio_rc4
pl_swiftwater
cp_follower
cp_observatory4
cp_corporation_b3
cp_redfort_b3
cp_furnace_b4
arena_lighthouse_rc1
pl_halfacre
cp_gydan
cp_broma
dom_complex_b4c
cp_yukon_rc4 ** Became an official map
cp_toy_fort_alt3
arena_freight
cp_resonance_rc3
cp_toys_v2

ctf_casbah scored somewhat high but due to a glitch where the spawn doors can be locked shut by players we might be replacing it with ctf_aurora.

So okay, where I can download these new maps that are being played on TFP servers now? The ones listed in first post aren't being played ever :D

Sorry for a bit noobish question, but I would appreciate it, predownloading is better than waiting for 20 minutes in map change screen
