Matryoshka archives (and installers)

The 7zip file contained a bzip2 file, which contained the bsp mapfile. What is the point? I am glad map authors are using bz2 since it makes the life easier for server admins, but putting it into another archive is just really pointless. Note the 7z file is larger than the bz2 one!
I also seen the same thing with installers, usually driver installers. They usually start with that you're installing an... installer. I even heard of cases where it would go in three steps, with a installer installing a installer that installs another installer. I suppose it might make life a little easier, but at least make the progress a bit more transparent for the user (and clean up after you plzthx).
