Dragonball Z game sequels keep being disappointments.

So I got Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 a few days ago and was impressed by how mediocre it was. So far, the Saiyan saga only has 3 chapters, and all the major fights are just crammed together with no room for error. You fuck up once, you have to start that section all over again. It's pissing me off.
Same thing happened with Dragonball Z Budokai. The first one was pretty damn good, lots of fighting. Then the sequel, Dragonball Z Budokai 2, was turned into a fucking board game that didn't even actually follow the story. Why can't they understand that sequels are supposed to be better or at least just as good as the previous one?
The only reason I'm still going to play Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is because I've heard that they have the over 9000 thing in there somewhere. Also because I am a huge nerd.
